Use a 720p sequence setting. Drop your 1080i footage into the sequence and render.

No need to cross-convert your footage before editing.

You will lose information on the left and right sides.

It’s basic math. 4:3 is almost square compared to 16:9 rectangular.

If you have a camera chart and/or a grey scale chart, you can match the cameras pretty close. A good monitor is also needed.

2 different cameras. Scene files are different. You can try to match as close as possible by adjusting the settings on both cameras.

Horita will work. You can get a used one for about $50.

Try this first:
Take one more BNC, and loop the
Ref Video IN to the VIDEO INPUT on the VTR, and your problem will go away. (camera into Ref video in, ref video out to video in, video in loop to HD Extreme Genlock input. Both 75 ohm term switches OFF).
