Let’s hope it doesn’t take 7 days to render!

  • If RED comes in anywere near the price of the HVX then I think everyone would be surprised. It’s going to be in a completely different market segment than the HVX surely?

They’re not going to release it until they work the bugs out of it!

  • As some “bugs” are fixed others will appear, software is never going to be perfect, that’s the fun of it!

Apparently there is no Apple event at NAB, so that means FCP 6 can’t be near, otherwise there would have been a launch in Vegas.

I actually reinstalled the OS, Quicktime and FCPro. I just used it as an excuse to “clean up” my system!

Why recapture? it never enters our workflow for offline/online

Capture material from firewire in HDV, edit in HDV, drop finished HDV sequence into 8 or 10 bit timeline and render. Quality wise there is NO difference between this and recapturing all the material in 8 or 10 bit. I know because we’ve tested it extensively.

HDV editing is much simpler than you think!

  • You can always export an Mpeg 1 from compressor, that will work in QuickTime and in WMP!

I’m no expert, but I don’t think you can use nested sequences with it.

I normally export my timeline as a self-contained movie, drop that into the timeline apply the converter filter to it and then use the self contained movie to drop into the image well in the filter settings. I’ve converted a number of projects this way with excellent results.
