Okay so I’m trying to capture some HDV footage from a Sony HDR-HC1 camera. Here is what I’m doing. 1) Start a new project. 2) go to Final Cut Pro/ Easy Setup. Choose HDV. 3) I get this error. “Codec not found. YOu may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.” 4) When I capture video. The frame is black and I’m getting audio.

I can capture under Apple intermediate codec, but I don’t have batch capture capabilites. Pleas help.

Specs. iMac G5 2GB ram, Radeon 9600 128mb, FCP 5.0 Thanks in advance

We had this, you have to reinstall quicktime and FCP to fix it.

Thanks, I’ll have to try it later tonight. That kinda stinks. Can you just do QT or do you have to do FCP also. Thanks

I actually reinstalled the OS, Quicktime and FCPro. I just used it as an excuse to “clean up” my system!

Make sure your camera is set to export footage as HDV. Check in the cam’s menus.Sony lets you choose between dv and hdv.
