All this makes me think that when the towers come out in the next few months they are going to be something really special.

  • [paul nevison] “the flipside to that of course would be the opportunity to provide thoughts and possible feature requests while the product is still in development…open dialogue with the developers…maybe we would all end up with the camera we want as opposed to most corporate products where they serve it up wether you like it or not….ie we serve our burgers with mayo wether you like it or not – learn to like our mayo!!”

Considering how secretive people like Apple and Sony are, the RED idea I think is a good one, it gives potential users a chance to feed back and it gives them great word of mouth marketing.

The cynicism is justified based on past experience, but it doesn’t hurt to be optimistic and if ths camera actually materialises then it will be a revolution. I’m prepared to give Mr Jannard the benefit of the doubt!

  • I think you’ll find he means 720 25P, basically the world doesn’t exist outside of the USA for Apple, we UK users always get the short straw, higher prices last to be supported.

  • Plus there is meant to be a storage option, similar to P2 that will only add $1000 to the cost.

I agree 100% it’s the most efficient way of working with HDV, it’s exactly the way I’d want to work with XDCam HD.

Fact is that if you’re buying a nice new XDcam HD camera, Canon H1 or JVC HD100 and you’re looking for an NLE, FCP won’t be it! If they wait until IBC they will lose some of the ground that they have made against Avid.

Very depressing, FCP is starting to lag behind other NLE’s as far as the new cameras go, no MXF with P2, no support for XDcam HD, no 25P or 24P HDV etc.

The Intel transition has lost Apple the lead they had at one point, let’s hope when 6 is finally released it leapfrogs the competition.
