I was hoping for a hookup with Apple & FCP, but I’m sure that will happen soon

April 24, 2006 at 7:55 pmHi Pete; good job on the snooker! …a question, do you have a G5 in proximity to the commentary booth? I can hear a G5’s fans spool up when they (you?) fire a replay. At first I though it couldn’t be; but now it makes perfect sense. I would know that sound anywhere!

Yeesh!! Who thinks these things up? That may be the worst marketing slogan I’ve heard so far this year. (Maybe this century!)
Having gotten that off my chest, it looks interesting. No, it looks fantastic! Resolutions from 720-4K, frame rates up to 120fps. Raw output, solid state & disk based recording. Light weight. A standard, widely used lens mount.
But do I really want to be taunted by yet another piece of digital cinema vaporware (Kinetta, Arri, etc)? What I want to know is, when is it shipping?

I’m nowhere near the commenatry booths! Actually I’m out the front on the pedestrianised walkway in a portacabin between the
Crucible & the Cue Zone. Maybe it is Dennis Taylor blow drying his hair 😉The Coming Up wipe was done in Shake & composited in FCP, The Draw 3D graphics the same.

Well, we can’t wait to see the camera. Apparently there’s nothing in the booth. It’s a concept right now, though no actual product in the booth. I’m going to get by there tomorrow to talk to Ted and the gang about a projected product delivery schedule.

forgot to mention, this is what I was told over dinner this evening by a camera operator colleague who stopped by. I’ll get over there tomorrow.

April 25, 2006 at 6:24 amBe good to see you Walter! We’re showing what we’ve done in the first 4 months. I think you’ll be impressed with what we’ve done so far. We’re showing design prototypes, and you can speak to the people behind that camera – that’s not nothing, just the reality of what we’ve got so far.

Absolutely I’ll be there today! I’m looking forward to finding out more about this thing as I have some folks already interested in talking workflow with the thing.
