Thanks I’ll capture a clip at a couple of different codecs and then compare them side by side and see.

Thanks Jeremy;
We are using a G5 Quad connected to a Fiber San to do our capturing. I think I may test it out and see how things go,

It could be 6.0.3. I never used that version. I upgraded to it and had other issues with Live Type and the BlackMagic were the texture backgrounds would disappear so I went back to 6.0.2 and then went to 6.0.4. I’m currently at 6.0.5 and have not problems, why don’t you update to that?

We do this on a weekly basis, but we use MacCaption to create our own caption files and we us the BlackMagic MultiBridge extreme.
Once the caption file is created we do the following.
Place it on the top line of video in FCP.
So you got the “Show” on V1 and the Caption file on V2.
Click on the Motion tab of the “Viewer” and set the bottom crop to 99.
Make sure that “Center” is at 0 and 0 not 0 and -1.When we used to use DV quality clips in a 8bt uncompressed timeline I would see this happen a lot.
Then go to Sequence>Settings (Apple 0) and Make sure the “Frame Size” is at 720 x 486 CCIR 601 NTSC (40:27) and NOT NTSC DV (3.2).
The “Compressor Setting” should be Uncompressed 8-bit NOT DV/DVC PRO.Now render and “Edit to Tape”.
The other problem that we have run into is that in the BlackMagic preferences there is a setting under processing that Capture VANC input line needs to be set to 21 instead of 18,19 or 20 that it defaults at.
I don’t know much about the Kona, but maybe there is something here that will help.
Good Luck.

I don’t know if there is a script to do that, but I created the template I want and then just saved that as a General Template and whenever anyone starts a project they open the General Template re save it with the project name and use that as a starting point.

That is great and I will set it up on Monday, but I’m still confused as to what happened to the other shortcuts.
Any answers from anyone would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Sorry forgot to mention that.
I’m 5.0.6 also and 4 of my 5 workstations don’t show those Control/Shift 6, 7, 8, 9 & 0.
My 5th station shows…
2 of my systems are Intel Octocore and 3 or them are Power PC quad core, all of them have 8GB of Ram.
Interestingly the 1 system that shows the layouts is an Intel, but my system is the other Intel and it has the problem.
[Victor Perez] “Looks like Chaz & Hezys pushed your layouts off the shortcut list.”
No mine is not pushed out on that system it is Control/Shift 9, but there are no shortcuts listed on the other systems.?
Thanks again.

Luke;
The problem was capturing SD footage on the Component or SDI inputs.
Capturing Mini DV thru Firewire always worked fine.[Luke Maslen] “The key point in the article is that this problem can be resolved by switching of the extended desktop provided by a Multibridge or DeckLink. To do so, open your System Preferences and click on DeckLink or Blackmagic (depending on your driver version) and configure the following preference. When not playing video, send Black to all the video outputs. Restart the Mac and I think this will fix your problem.”
Switching the extended desktop to black seemed to work.
Just out of curiosity I switched it back to extended desktop, re-booted the system and it still worked, but I changed it back to black just to be safe since we have no need for that option on that system.Thanks
