I agree….In your settings you already have a bunch of presets. Go to the Settings Tab, Apple, Other Workflows, Advanced Format Conversions, Standard Definition.

I’m in the habit to save early and often. Put all of your project files in date order so you make sure you open the newest one. I would then do a Save As and save it to the name and location of where you want. Best of luck.

Me personally, I like working in HD. Hard Drives are super cheap. Then you don’t have to convert 5 hours of HD footage to SD.

If you must…Compressor does a great job.

You need to find your Autosave Vault to find the project. It will most likely be at the following location:
Documents, Final Cut Pro Documents, Autosave Vault.

Just type Autosave in the finder and you’ll find it.

There are many ways to do it. One would be to create a black solid and multiple mask shapes and move around to taste. Then you can place your clips behind the wholes the mask shapes have created. Then if you adjust the size of the clip it will be the same every-time.

Or you could decrees the scale of the clips and move them around to taste. If you need to you can use the crop tool. Hope this helps and best of luck.

XDCAM is a GOP format structure. ProRes is an individual frame format. This lessens the load on the system, as GOP formats are processor intensive. It also makes renders and exports occur faster.

I would go with ProRes 422 hq

1440 x 1080 is 1920 x 1080 squashed. FCP will play it as the proper aspect ratio and you will be just fine.
