Lost a day plus of work. put the imac to sleep.. so I thought.. maybe I hit force quit..
regardless returned home a few hours later.. I had to turn the computer on and saw that a full day’s work is lost.

    auto save is 30 minutes

I tried Open Recent and Restore Project … but with no success.. I did export my project to quicktime.
    (hopefully the client likes it)

You need to find your Autosave Vault to find the project. It will most likely be at the following location:
Documents, Final Cut Pro Documents, Autosave Vault.

Just type Autosave in the finder and you’ll find it.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks! It was there.. and what a relief!
I need to do a better job saving as I go along.

question about the older projects that I opened while trying to find the right one… I try to close and it asks if I want to save them. Do I need to?

Thanks again.. and thanks to you, I’ll sleep better tonight

I’m in the habit to save early and often. Put all of your project files in date order so you make sure you open the newest one. I would then do a Save As and save it to the name and location of where you want. Best of luck.

And by the way, here’s an AWESOME trick if you’re on FCP 7 down & you’ve accidentally erased your autosave while being stuck with a corrupted project file…

Copy the project to another drive… take out a few letters from the copied project file & delete the original.

Open up your copy & save to it’s original name & location… problem solved
