If I were to be taking my 16 x 9 HD work and wanting to get the best possible quality 4×3 output, I would be putting all the clips inside of a 4 x 3 standard definition timeline
Sorry, but I disagree. I think FCP does a terrible job of working with HD footage in an SD timeline. FCP adds stair stepping to lots of HD clips in an SD timeline. I think compressor does a fantastic job of converting HD clips to SD. At least that is how I see it.

Sorry Matt, nothing has changed….I would recommend you purchase a plug-in called Zaxwerks Pro Animator FX. It can make your illustrator logo 3D. It is super easy to use and worth its weight in pizza. It can do text as well.
I’ve never used it but you can also check out Boris Continuum Complete 6 FxPlug’s Extruded Text filter.

You can add a dissolve to the audio to fade it from sound to no sound. If you want to work with the rubber band go to the bottom left corner of the screen and make sure the third icon in is selected. You will get a line on your audio that you can move or use the pen tool to change the audio frequency. Take a look at this Final Cut Pro Time Savers video tutorial and watch the section on audio. To find out what frame rate the footage is look at the clip in the Browser. There are multiple tabs and the one called :”Vid rate” will tell you the frame rate. I prefer to use Cannons free plug-in to log and transfer the clips in FCP…I’m sure someone on the COW will disagree. I think the best project setting to use it the one you converted the clips into. To do this just drag one of the clips into your FCP timeline and FCP will ask you if you want it to convert your timeline to the clips settings. Say yes. As for the footage that was shot in 60 you will need to place it in Cinema Tools to convert it to slow mo. Hope this helps and best of luck.
