“Low Memory Errors” almost always mean that your dynamic RAM is too small. It is also likely being managed by Windows (the default). This is an anachronism from the days that a big hard-disk was 1Gb and 512Mb of RAM was huge. I recommend that you do not let Windows manage the dynamic space – set the min and max values to the same. (In my case, 12Gb. Probably overkill, but I have 1TB of hard-disk).

What a lot of people don’t know is that the dynamic ram space has to be contiguous disk space, so if your hard disk is really fragmented then the O/S may have a problem finding a contiguous space on the disk. Making it a fixed space eliminates this problem.

I think I understand your question. When you enable multicam, all of your selected tracks are copied to a single track with each cam as a “take”. Do you want to expand the master track back to individual tracks? I can’t think of a reason why I would want to do this (am I missing something), but you could copy the master track for each of the cameras, select all events on the track, then scroll through the takes until you get the one for the camera that the track represents.

    Does that answer the question?

I put my media on an eSATA drive and plug it into a cheaper, slower PC for the final render.

I haven’t used the renderfarm option because almost everything I do is for DVD or web. MPEG and h.264 are encoded, not rendered. Notwithstanding that Vegas puts both encoding and rendering tasks in the same “render as” menu.

As John said, GPU don’t matter. But I recommend a dual display card, even if you only have one display now.

Once you’ve edited with two monitors, you will never go back to one.

    Otherwise playback may be choppy.

That’s the *preview* playback. The compressed output will look just fine.

Do you have “Hide known filetypes” selected on one computer and not the other?

You are on the right track. I had a similar problem last year and it was definitely a driver conflict. Try downloading “DriverDetective” to check your drivers status.

“… and when I edit it seems choppy as I go throguh the time line, when one clip dissolves into the other it is very choppy like it’s struggling to dissolve into the clip or when I add the white flash effect it does the same thing, seems like it’s having a hard time with the effect. ”

Choppy where? In the preview or the final DVD? If it’s in the preview, then your PC doesn’t have enough horsepower to do real-time rendering for preview. Your final DVD does not need real-time rendering to be OK, it just takes longer.

Make your page file static. If the O/S can’t find enough contiguous memory when it needs to manage the pagefile, you will get this error.
