Probably not. File size is determined almost entirely by the encoding bit-rate.

Why uncompressed AVI?

What is your output format? If you are RENDERING, e.g. AVI file, then yes, Vegas should only render the changes. If you are ENCODING, e.g. MPG, M2T, MOV, etc, then no.

A 2Tb drive will cost about $65, and it will fit into a small safe-deposit box. Or make a few copies and share them with other relatives.

If your destination is a film transfer, then shooting at 24P eliminates any frame count mismatches. You should never use the in-camera effects. You have more options available in third-party programs, but if you apply any effects in-camera, then fixing it in post is not an option.

Here’s my definition of “Film Look”:
Film Look: The art of damaging the video to look like it was shot on film.

I built a new editing workstation to replace my aging quad-core. But, when I installed BCC7 trial on it, then open Vegas, and there’s no BCC effects.
I tried restarting, just in case. No BCC7
I removed and reinstalled, no BCC7 in Vegas.

Of course, if there’s no BCC7 trial in Vegas, I can’t navigate the byzantine unlock process to use the purchased version.

Any tips would be appreciated.

The Raptor is a pretty good drive – I have a few of them here, so unless it’s almost full or very fragged, it shouldn’t be the problem.

Your RAM preview depends on how much you use CTRL-B (or a looping section) to preview segments of your work. Some people set it to zero to give Vegas all the RAM it needs.

If your CPU is at or near 100%, then your processor is not fast enough.
If you are using most of your RAM for the process, I wouldn’t panic, but you have little reserve.

It doesn’t really matter much what you have installed, what are you running? Even if Vegas is the only application running, you still have dozens of processes running.

One of the biggest performance killers is to have your video assets on the same physical drive as the O/S and Vegas programs. (I.E. drive C:).

Firefox is also a huge resource hog. Mostly RAM and GDI objects. (Don’t worry about GDI objects unless you are putting thousands of still-images on the timeline).

Well, after spending an hour trying to follow John’s tutorial on extruded spline…
In John’s tut, when you load the FX on a blank event, you see the rectangle by default. When I do it, I get a black preview.

Then, I realize that my video card won’t do extruded anything.

I have a new editing PC that I haven’t migrated my programs to, so what’s the proper procedure with BCC7? Is it like Adobe stuff where I have to unregister on one machine then install then re-register on the new one?

I can’t find anything on this in the forums or documentation.
