Hmmm..
On my “Events Kiss, Fades Die” thread, I gave Paul Belter that green check for his excellent tip on the hidden internal tab in Preferences. But, when I look at the thread, I don’t see the “solution provided” green check by his post.

Sony is supposed to let us use Vegas on two computers, but not simultaneously, as you indicated.
When you login to the https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com and go to the My Account tab, do you see SVP 11 registered?
You might want to call them and provide the machine IDs of the two computers, have them make sure that another machine ID is not in their DB.

Run Process Explorer and watch those graphs! Will help id bottlnecks.
In another post someone passed along a great tip – make sure the preview window is set to not scale. Lately I’ve been using the Preview / quarter setting and it has been able to keep up with most routine effects. However, unless you have a screamingly fast graphics card with a great GPU, you won’t get perfect results in preview.
To make sure that a section of a vid will render the way you want, select a short section and use the ” selectively prerender” option under Tools.

Duke, YouTube is a moving target. Who know what they are doing today vs 10 hours ago?
However, in my tests, for recent vids rendered at 10 Mbps CBR, if I play them back on a fast connection and watch the network graphs in real-time (using something like SysInternals Process Explorer or NetMeter), I see a 10 Mbps download speed. I have never gotten more than 10 Mbps with such measurements. (this for the 1080 selection during playback).

You might be experiencing the StudioRGB vs Computer RGB thing. Part of what you describe reminds me of that.

And, although it probably does not apply, I found this link the other day and it has me a bit worried. I’m reading up on PsF and AVCHD trying to understand:
Are you using the Vegas Video Scopes to look at your levels? I assume your cam saves in AVCHD 1.0 format, can you give us details? Do you get the problem when you render with MainConcept MPG?

Hi;
John, I only started using SVP 11 last week, have build 683 64-bit. I had not yet tried a pan/crop rotate of a still, but because I do that kind of thing a lot, I thought I would test. I grabbed a .png and dropped it into a current project. (I used FastStone to convert a .jpg into .png for the test.
With everything at the defaults, I did a pan/crop , grabbed the corner and rotated. Looks good.
Not sure if this helps. But, at lease it confirms that such manipulation is not impossible.

But , this begs another question … WHY WOULD SONY BUILD THIS TYPE OF SECRET EASTER-EGG BEHAVIOR INTO VEGAS ?!?
Is this mentioned in an obscure manual? Searching help for “show unquantized” gives no hits; a search for “internal” does not lead to anything that describes this pref tab!!
What am I missing here? Is there some kind of a secret Vegas society to which I need to be inducted?!?

Sorry to hear about this.
Years ago I was a printer support technician … one of my clients had a big Okidata dot-matrix high speed printer. If the security guard keyed the radio near it the print head would smash all the way to one side of the carriage!
My solution was to put the printer in a home-made Faraday cage. I made one from plywood and fine chicken-wire with a hinged top.
I know this is not practical for your cam!

The NX5, like most cameras in its class, is not perfectly parfocal. This is why auto-focus is needed. Although I found the auto-focus on the NX5 to be not as good as newer Sonys such as the NX70, the one I tested had pretty good auto-focus. It also was dead-on in focus at infinity when the focus was manually set to infinity.
I had acceptable results using the following technique when in situations where auto-focus did not work well:
* Put it in manual focus mode, turn on expanded.
* Press the one-push auto focus, then tweak it with the focus ring if it was off (usually it was not)Steve
