  • What’s the best possible quality render settings for YouTube Videos?

Posted by Duke Stah on May 11, 2012 at 9:36 pm

I’ve watched some tutorials and some say that YT compresses a video’s bitrate to 5M bps if the video is rendered as 720p and is compressed to 10M bps if the video is render as

Is two-pass a good choice in order to get top-notch quality on videos recorded with Fraps?

& also, I’m stuck between either using wmv or main concept .mp4 to get better quality. Which one is better? I don’t choose to go w/ AVI because it practically eats up my hard drive.

Deeply appreciated if you’d help me.

    -Thanks ^^

This question has been asked so many times…lol
I find myself using this plugin Duke, more often than i had expected:
    Video4YouTube…..https://vegasaur.com/free-tools
Which is simply the same Sony AVC, internet template.

What version of Vegas are you using? The Sony AVC codec will give you the best results in versions up to Vegas Pro 10. For Vegas Pro 11 use the MainConcept AVC codec.

Your quality will also depend on the resolution of your original video. Since you said it was FRAPS I assume you are capturing your computer screen. You should either capture at the same resolution you are going to deliver or an even multiple of that resolution. Otherwise the image may get blurry when resizing because pixels will need to be blended to achieve your final resolution.

Vegas 10 Pro. I’m cropping the video to fit in 16:9 resolutions. So the Sony AVC codec, I see. Also, is it true that YouTube compresses the video to 5M bps if the video is rendered as 720p and is compressed to 10M bps if the video is render as 1080p?

Duke, YouTube is a moving target. Who know what they are doing today vs 10 hours ago?

However, in my tests, for recent vids rendered at 10 Mbps CBR, if I play them back on a fast connection and watch the network graphs in real-time (using something like SysInternals Process Explorer or NetMeter), I see a 10 Mbps download speed. I have never gotten more than 10 Mbps with such measurements. (this for the 1080 selection during playback).

To confirm, for 1920×1080, you are changing the default AVC Render setting of 16,000,000 to 10,000,000?

So sorry about the delay in replying!

Yes, you have the right idea. Here is a screen shot:

This particular shot shows a variable bit rate, but you can select CBR if you want.
