AFter the nightmares i’ve been going through on this exhaustive feature
documentary, I disagree. FCP needs an optional hardware based version.
Working endless hours with so much attention to detail and then
have the project open up with a ton of anamolies is maddening.
Clips in the timeline with opacity keyframes shifted beyond
the time of the clip, dialog tightly edited comes up with completely
    different source media.

I’ve worked so hard to try and keep my work and still it looks
like it was edited by a freakin’ monkey.
We lose clients because of this randomity.
    NOT WORTH IT!

    Nesting is a freakin’ joke.
    It shouldn’t be an option.
When I play back the nest, audio is clipped, yet when
I open up the nest and play, it’s not clipped.
    Unbelieveable.

CHV is a little better than the FCPro garbage matte,
a little window in the corner shows a blow in of where you’re placing
your keyframe. But you basically have to drag the keyframes around the
    object.

Much easier to draw them in with the bezier handles.

Funny, I just posted about this above not knowing about his post.
Obviously needed and wanted by many.

All chapters are each nested in the overall sequence timeline.

Can I render an open nest/chapter directly to compressor with
out the rest of the nests/chapters exporting?

    Thnx.

September 15, 2006 at 7:14 pm in reply to: issue rendering HDV to DV (NTSC)

I’ll be capturing some second unit footage acquired on a Sone Z1U
this afternoon into my DVX100 (720×480 NTSC), FCPro 4.5HD timeline.

I have 5.0 and can install it on a different internal drive for capturing
    the HDV footage.

Any suggestions on settings for my capture for the project to end up
    on an SD NTSC DVD?

    thnx

This site is hopping, probably because of the looming Sundance deadline….

    That’s certainly a help.

    Actually not correct.

It’s happening to with editors BOTH using 4.5HD in two dif locations.

    Doh!

    How about ask more questions…………….

September 14, 2006 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Capture Z1U footage into 4.5HD?

    Jerry,
Would I still need this utility running the latest FCPro5?

If I put another system folder on my second internal drive
and installed FCPro5 on that drive, then booted from the second drive,
would I be able to capture in the latest 5 without this utility?

If so, any workarounds or tips for switching between boot up disks
    and FCP versions.

I only need to capture the footage and then put it in my 4.5HD
    project.

I’m afraid to convert the whole feature documentary from 4.5HD
into 5.0 when I have my fest submission due in a week.

If the safest method is use this utility in 4.5HD, then I’ll do that.

    Much appreciated.

The funny thing is, is it’s already a multi track mixer, Option 6,
and it comes with some sweet audio efx, it just needs the efx sends/return
button to route them through the channels.

I love that we have the existing abilities and the voice over tool.
That extra function would save alot of time exporting and importing.

If you want to do alot of audio editing, yes, use an audio editing
    program.

I don’t use soundtrack because I’m so used to scoring and recording
    vocals/editing in Logic Audio Pro.

I wouldn’t need to go into Logic for the dialog editing because it’s
    so easy in FCPro.
