  • Absolutely. 24P Advanced Pulldown on the camera and in FCP.
I checked the VCR menu on the DVX100 and DV Out is ON.
The IEEE 1394 Compatibility chart from the Panasonic website
only shows OSX boxes checked for FCP 4.5 and below……ouch.

Is there a firmware update by Panasonic available?
Don’t know how to check the firmware on the AG-DVX100P.
I never updated the firmware, it’s the same as when I bought it in 03????

This is a drag as I’ve been grabbing footage for over a year now from around the country
thinking the camera would still be compatible with FCP. Silly me.

I was thinking it was the firewire cable, but not because I tried using the mini DV connected to the
camera and FW400 into my daughter’s MacBook in iMovie and it wouldn’t see it.
Finally took the tape out and put it in a cheezy tiny Sony and iMovie was able to see the images,
even though they were were stretched horizontally. My model I shot looked fatter……another OUCH!

    Firmware? Driver update?

  • That’s obvious.
I drove an hour to buy a mini firewire (dv) to Firewire 800 cable and FCP still doesn’t see the
    camera for Log & Capture.

Does FCP or Panasonic need a special driver to see the FW800 input?

  • It’s on my old G5 tower in storage.
Who in Palm freakin’ Desert would know what files to look for?
There are so many render files, audio files, etc. now that I open the project
    to attach, it’s just endless.

Can I at least CUT the mpeg4 into two pieces with the graphic taken out
and just create the grafic sequence in FCP and export that in Compressor with the same settings?

Then place the three elements in DVDSpro as a sandwiched chapter?

    I thought “smooth” appears.
That makes the image sort of duck as you’re punching in.
Would be nice if there was a parameter to adjust the degree of
    ducking…..
Smooth is not the same thing.

Is this what you’re talking about?

Ease in and Ease out are terms that are used in AE.
I’m trying to avoid going to another program, making motion changes,
    and then re-importing.

    Oh well.

October 28, 2008 at 10:50 pm in reply to: Awwwwwwhhhhh! Project file won’t open

Followed all the instructions from both threads, including the long one.
    Still won’t open.

The only thing I did was the following:
I was working with an editor over a year ago who installed
Soundtrack Pro on my system before I installed FCP.
When I installed FCPro it auto initiated the program with his
    registration from Soundtrack Pro.

Since I didn’t know how to change it and was in a time crunch,
I continued using the install with his serial.

I found a tute on how to update your owner info and did so.
Now FCP has my name and sn#.

The unusual part of this is the other chapters (projects) that I created under the previous name/sn# still open.

    Any ideas????

    Thnx,
    Sherwood

I’m having the same problem in a workaround.

Is FCP losing the paths to the original renders?

    I’ll check that out.
I have been saving as a .psd, but from what you say,
I must pay more attention to the save settings options.
    Thnx.

    Thank you Richard.
When I create a new layer and create some type and then want
to change the text, I CAN dbl clk on the T icon in the text layer. That’s not the problem.

It’s when I come back to a saved project and attempt the
same thing but it doesn’t let me edit the text.
Dbl clking doesn’t highlight the text, as when you’re working
in the original project and clicking or next to the text
won’t let me edit. That’s the problem.

I will certainly watch the podcast you recommend.
