Can’t Capture from DVX100 firewire to MacBook Pro FW800
Posted by Sherwood Ball on April 22, 2010 at 8:21 pmI’m using the mini firewire cable that connects to the side panel of the DVX100 to a Sonnet
adaptor Firewire 400 to Firewire 800.
Final Cut Studio “Log and Capture” doesn’t see the camera to capture.Any workarounds???
Thnx

April 22, 2010 at 8:26 pmthat Sonnet a cable or a box? Might not be passing the signal right.

April 23, 2010 at 1:17 amThat’s obvious.
I drove an hour to buy a mini firewire (dv) to Firewire 800 cable and FCP still doesn’t see the
camera for Log & Capture.Does FCP or Panasonic need a special driver to see the FW800 input?

April 23, 2010 at 1:36 amHmm- shouldn’t be an issue. Are you using the Firewire presets for DVX100 i.e. Advanced Pulldown removal?

April 23, 2010 at 4:51 amAbsolutely. 24P Advanced Pulldown on the camera and in FCP.
I checked the VCR menu on the DVX100 and DV Out is ON.
The IEEE 1394 Compatibility chart from the Panasonic website
only shows OSX boxes checked for FCP 4.5 and below……ouch. Is there a firmware update by Panasonic available?
Don’t know how to check the firmware on the AG-DVX100P.
I never updated the firmware, it’s the same as when I bought it in 03????This is a drag as I’ve been grabbing footage for over a year now from around the country
thinking the camera would still be compatible with FCP. Silly me.I was thinking it was the firewire cable, but not because I tried using the mini DV connected to the
camera and FW400 into my daughter’s MacBook in iMovie and it wouldn’t see it.
Finally took the tape out and put it in a cheezy tiny Sony and iMovie was able to see the images,
even though they were were stretched horizontally. My model I shot looked fatter……another OUCH!Firmware? Driver update?

April 23, 2010 at 4:59 amDVX100 cannot be firmware updated. Could be the firewire port of the camera being burned out tho.

May 20, 2010 at 12:05 amI’m capturing footage from my DVX100A to my Intel macbook pro daily.
Will the camera capture in iMovie?
Another idea, capture in Quicktime Pro.
