I agree with Walter.
For my upcoming History Channel project, I have been testing and testing and testing since August. I start December 13.
Testing is a GOOD thing. And VERY necessary.

Basically:
Standard Definition resolution: 720×486 (720×480 for DV)
High Definition: 1920×1080 (1080i or 2K) or 1280×720 (720P or 1K)

None needed. Just put the video on V2 and resize and re-position.

Why did you capture PAL? Did you telecine to PAL? Are you in a PAL country?
Then just edit PAL 25fps and you should be fine. If your footage was telecined to PAL tapes, then you capture PAL, then you are editing 25fps all the way.

Export the cut as an XML, v1 (FCP 4.5 cannot read v2). This will get them only the cut, not the organized bins.
You cannot save as a previous version.
He is going to have to upgrade so that you both are on the same page…

There isn’t one. Pressing DELETE gets rid of the clip (BUT NOT THE MEDIA) from the browser, or the bin. But there is nothing like that TRASH can that I have seen.

Export an XML…version 1. Then open that in FCP 4.5 and reconnect.
