Check out Adobe’s ExtendScript Toolkit + samples in /Applications/Adobe After Effects CS3/Scripts
Also make sure you have AFx Scripting Guide handy:

Shouldn’t this go to “Lower-Pay Jobs” forum? ; ) Can do the job.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Carlos!

As you know, each camera position keyframe has 3 values: X, Y and Z.
Say, you insert an intermediate keyframe to only affect camera movement in Z axis.
But when you add a keyframe to a sequence you affect all three values, which may cause that shakes.

Also check the keyframes interpolation – make sure they’re Linear / Auto Bezier.

    Here’s a workaround I found at VideoCopilot.net:
    https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/advanced_camera_tips/
Add a Null object, make it 3D.
    Parent Camera to the Null.
Apply animation preset “Separate XYZ Position” to the Null.
Now you can animate X, Y and Z independently!

With the existing animation of the camera, you probably will want to copy the existing Cam Position keyframes to the Null’s “Separate XYZ” respective keyframes, and then delete all Camera’s Position keyframes and disabling the clock for the Position property before parenting the camera to the Null.

    Kind regards,

October 23, 2009 at 9:57 pm in reply to: 3D Stroke (Trapcode) matching layers

I tryed it with Particular too, but it has exactly the same limitations – you can only rotate the whole thing by its built-in rotation properties bound to some point.

I discovered that in 3D Stroke’s case the rotation point depends on:

  • Comp width
  • Layer’s Anchor point
  • Layer’s Position
  • Mask’s rightmost point (for the “center” X)
  • So maybe, if I pre-comp each layer with 3DStroke, and at some point move simultaneously say, the Anchor and the layer within the sub-comp – this will move the rotation center, keeping the rest in place?
    Needs further research.

    Kind regards,

Roland, this technique is exactly what I did in the linked clip.
BUT ! The question is the “3D Stroke” plugin from Trapcode.
It is applied to a 2D layer. And if you make it a 3D layer and rotate in 3D space, it acts like a flat piece of paper with some 3D scene projected onto it.

So to rotate the stroke in 3D you have to operate the plugin’s internal rotation properties.
Which are bound to some arbitrary mid point.

My question is about that point and any ways to match it with path’s ends.

    Kind regards,

https://www.brandsoftheworld.com has tons of logos in vector – free. But please respect the trademark owners.

  • Here’s the sort of image I’m looking forward to generate:

Trick here is the flow of a line segment, leaving a trace behind. No the particles case, isn’t it?
