    Hi all,

At heart I am an editor in a niche market – TV promos. The line continues to blur in this market, as the highly successful individuals here in NYC are writing, producing, editing, and compositing. I aspire to do the same and become a jack of all trades myself.

I am versed in After Effects on a nominal level – I do the necessary tweaks to projects if our graphics department is swamped, and I comfortable with what I am working with. This compositing work mostly consists of lower thirds animation and moves with logos.

Basically I want to show that I am capable of doing this work on my website. Adding compositing work that I have only tweaked for my reel is disingenuous. So I was thinking about using logos I can get ahold of for free, or a small fee that I can animate and use with stock footage I already have.

I am not sure where to start looking for this material. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Thanks Dave.

I agree that if I explained a before and after, that would work. But I do want to become more adept with AE while putting this reel together, and try some new tricks. So if I can get ahold of logo elements, it would suit both needs of a reel and training myself.

This page has tons of logos that can be used for that purpose:

    https://www.visual.gi/logoteca/logos.html

The page is in Spanish and many of the logos are outdated, but neither should affect your ability to download and use the logos for practice.

By the way, as someone who sometimes has to review other people’s reels and factor their prior work into hiring decisions, I for one would appreciate the person admitting up front that the examples weren’t actual paid work product for the companies whose logos are used … for example, that the person didn’t actually make commercials for Coca-Cola, but how you handle that is obviously your call.

Check here… these are brands without homes for sale as a package.

If you got in touch with some of the authors and asked if you could animate something with their logos, then maybe it could even be included as part of the brand!

https://www.brandsoftheworld.com has tons of logos in vector – free. But please respect the trademark owners.
