Just to update anyone who might come across this post with a similar problem, I have received a beta driver from Bella and it works again. I’m now using Windows 7 and Vegas 9 and everything is good again!

They should release the driver soon. If you’re stuck, send them an e-mail. They did respond to mine within 24 hours.

I just went to a presentation from Panasonic featuring the HMC150 which records to AVCHD. With a lower bitrate, AVCHD has a better image than HDV. So at 17-18Mbps it would actually be superior to the HDV at 25. The HMC150 goes to 21Mbps under certain settings.

Well, Vegas 9 Pro has “Comprehensive AVCHD and HDV Support”. Not sure what the comprehensive really mean… Hopefully it will support AVCHD natively since I’m looking into the HMC150.

I already tried the “match output aspect”, but it’s not quite perfect. Plus, because of a “ken burn” effect, the edges reappear. I guess I’ll just resize.

    Thanks!

Hi, Just wanted to offer my services as well. I have edited a few weddings and I think I can edit the way you want it to be.

I can send a small sample of my work if needed.

    Thanks!

How about using the spotlight effect with keyframes?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember that if it is overexposed, there is little to be done as the white pixels do not contain color information anymore.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with rendering to an Iphone or other settings. I would recommend finding a video that plays to the quality you like (on the Iphone) and looking up what are the settings (Size, bitrate, framerate, audio ect.), then I would create a custom template in Quicktime *.mov option from the render menu.

You should be able to reset the default windows settings by going to the “View” menu then “Windows layout” then “Load default layout”

Why not render to MP4 directly from Vegas? Just find out what’s the ideal bitrate for the Iphone playback, then render from Vegas as Mp4 or Mov. You can create a template for the specific size (ex 420×360)and bitrate that works and save it as a preset.
