    Hi all,

I have Vegas 7.0e. I have been capturing and editing miniDV material. I’d like to create renders both in MPG and for the iphone 3G.

Somehow I have not yet figured out some good settings to create iphone 3G compatible material, and I’d appreciate some pointers or ranges of formats to use.

As a workaround, I had rendered some MPEG2 outputs, NTSC compatible. However, I must be doing something wrong there too. The outputs can play on the computer, but generate unrecoverable errors when I use Nero to do the iphone conversions. Perhaps the problem is related to the MPEG audio; however Nero does not give any information on the source of the error. But something is wrong, as the erightsoft convertor has problems with these files too.

So I’d appreciate some suggestions. I suspect the fixes are simple tweaks to my settings, and I’d love some thoughts.

Why not render to MP4 directly from Vegas? Just find out what’s the ideal bitrate for the Iphone playback, then render from Vegas as Mp4 or Mov. You can create a template for the specific size (ex 420×360)and bitrate that works and save it as a preset.

What I am looking for it something like….

Acceptable screen widths are 480×360, but don’t use 29.97 as iphone doesn’t accept it (making this up, don’t really know); use 1.0 pixel width. Limit audio to xxx… etc.

I’d love this information for both H.264 and quicktime formats. Especially with Quicktime, I can’t figure out what audio to use.

Also, would love some thoughts on what I might have done wrong with the mpeg2 format that caused errors in Nero Recode and erightsoft.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with rendering to an Iphone or other settings. I would recommend finding a video that plays to the quality you like (on the Iphone) and looking up what are the settings (Size, bitrate, framerate, audio ect.), then I would create a custom template in Quicktime *.mov option from the render menu.

I’m on it like a fat kid on a twinkie
