how to highlight (glow, colorize) moving object
Posted by Martin Gresko on January 2, 2009 at 11:00 pmHello,
I want to ask if it is possible to glow a moving object in video in Sony Vegas 8. I have a video where an unnoticable object moves across the screen and I want to highlight that object, so that viewer can actually see that object.
PS: the object moves not directly from one point to another, but more randomly.
Thank you.

having the same video on two timelines (one on top of the other) And keyframing the mask to track the movements.Steve Rhoden

January 3, 2009 at 2:13 amYou can use the secondary color corrector to enhance the object. If you are not sure how to do this search on You Tube and you’ll find some very easy tutorials. The other much more tedious option is to mask it out and rotoscope out the action then apply the effect you want. Try the first one and see how you make out. As I have learned lately there are a couple of motion tracking software out there that can help. I found one that is free called Claxa 1.0. I just loaded it and am learning how to use it. Boris Red and Imaganeer have also been recommended but they are not inexpensive.

January 3, 2009 at 2:15 amSteve must have been answering at the same time I was. He is talking about the more tedious method I mentioned. You can do it and it works great you just have to keyframe every movement and adjust the mask accordingly. Use whatever works for you and gets you the best results. Best of luck.

January 3, 2009 at 10:22 amHi,
thanks for the answer. I also forget to mention that the object is changing, lets say, it’s a walking figure (with legs, hands and head), so it’s not a static object that moves throught space but it also changes its shapes and I want to glow it. So I have to mask it in every frame?

January 3, 2009 at 2:57 pmThere is no shortcut, no matter which you choose you will have to key frame every frame to do it accurately. Try downloading Claxa 1.0, its a free motion tracking software I just care across but have not learned yet. Perhaps you can learn the ropes and save yourself a lot of time. The other recommended software are not cheap. If you don’t care about the accuracy of the glow then you certainly can do that but the background will be affected as well. Best of everything.
