Any suggestions for an old, very wide angle (14 – 17mm or so) Nikon lens that would work well with a canon 5D?

    Thanks

Hi Todd. I have chosen either Position+Rotation or Position+Rotation+Scale.

July 27, 2009 at 9:00 am in reply to: BCC Unlock code not working

Just a quick post to let anyone else who has this problem know that it was resolved by the Boris Support Team (thanks Peter and Jon).

Something deep inside the Mac permissions must have got screwed up (don’t think we will ever know what) and it took a clever bit of work by the Boris Bofins to solve it. It was not something I could have done alone.

My suggestion to anyone else who has this problem is to contact the Boris team (they exist and answer the phone) AND to post a message here which is monitored by Peter.

BCC is now healthy and living a busy life in Downtown After Effects. Thanks for the Get Well Soon cards.

    Thanks for your reply Peter.

I tried your suggestion but with no success. I have “repaired” After Effects but this hasn’t worked. I have performed ‘Verify Disk Permissions’ and ‘Repair Disk Permissions’ on the boot drive, but no improvement.

The BCC effects did work briefly (for about two hours) between entering the code and the first render queue. I even managed to do a TGA sequence export. It was only after the render queue froze After Effects (asking for the code to be entered) and I had to force-quit that the problems started.

    Any other ideas?

I have the same problem. Not very Mac literate, so how did you find and delete BCC 6. My code is not working and I need to do a clean install.

    Thanks

    Few stats to follow up.

The Mac draws 0.15amp when switched off
Peaks at 1.28amp when starting up during loud fan noise phase.
Settles down at 1.07amp (which is 251 watts on the UK 230 V supply)
While transfering files power draw went up to 1.84amps or almost 400W.

Try putting four 100w light bulbs in an area the size of a Mac and it makes you think how much gas/petrol a Mac uses and switch it off when not in use.

That is the quickest reply and solution I have ever received. You are right. The UPS is right next to the Mac and is making the noise. It was only when I put my head between the two I discovered this.

I am surprised that a relatively simple transfer process could draw so much power. I will run an amp test with the Mac idle and transferring to see what the additional load is.

Any idea what part of the Mac is so power hungry. The noise is not on when I am rendering.

Anyway, thanks very much for your help Walter.

Hi Dave. I had similar thoughts but the drive set to cache (and render too had over 36Gb free. I also changed the drive cache to another drive with over 300Gb spare. And renedering without the effect causes no problem.

I thought that it might be that the Mac was attempting to write to the drives faster than their own cache would allow. Both drives are internal SATA drives and all run at 7200 spin speed.

You are right about it being unheard of. I have spent hours on web searches trying to find someone else with the problem with no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem?

July 28, 2008 at 12:01 pm in reply to: Long bleeps when transferring from camcorder

Finally I have discovered a way to get round the bleeps. Copy the entire folder structure from the AVCHD card onto the Mac hard drive into a new folder.

In log and transfer navigate to the “Private” folder, just one step in from the host folder. Click on open and the file structure will be recognised and the clips shown in the list.

Add the selected clips (or just part of a clip) to the Queue and they will automatically start to transfer, with no annoying bleeping.

Therefore I believe the bleeping is a warning against removing either the camera or external media during transfer, and the system is not concerned when it comes from an internal drive.

I hope my experience will help others.

Just to add some more information to the previous post. I have now tried using two different hard-drives and both cause the bleeping.

I have taken the SDHC card out of the camcorder and imported through a media reader and the beeps still occur.

The beeps start about 10 secs after the transfer starts and stop immediately after the transfer finishes.

The bleeps last for about 2 seconds, pause for 2 seconds , bleep for 2 seconds, etc. The bleeping is continuous.

Muting the internal speaker has no effect so I don’t think it is coming from here.

Any one got any wild ideas?
