  • I think that tutorial is nice for one type of look. I could not view your sample, but I would use trapcode 3d stroke. It gives you a lot of unique options on top of simply morphing your path. If you animate your
path(s) carefully you can go from shape to shape and animate secondary motion as well.

No, John, I did not. The preset did not allow for that. My effect was
a shot pretty far away with a ton of letters flying on. My guess, and this is above my level of expertise,is that some kind of a script could be written to do this. It seems to me to do it in true 3d using dynamics would be an immense amount of work to set up. Personally, that kind of a look can be very dramatic and stunning. If I were to attempt it with the control your looking for I would HAND ANIMATE about 100 – 200 of the letters myself. I HAVE done that as well, (about 70 letters)
and it looked great, just took me a day to do it. You could also do a mix of this effect with the preset AND hand animated letters mixed within it. A particle system like particular MAY be able to do something
in the ballpark of what you want, but your options may be limited with it. I would do it by hand myself, it would take me longer, but id have total control of the motion. If I had a lot of these to do. I would experiment with Particular to see if it could be automated someway.

sorry I dont have a really easy answer for you…. good luck, id like to see what you come up with.

Ive DONE this look before, i gotta search for it. I had the page of a magazine ‘build’ on with all the individual letters flying off. I used one of the animation presets. I typed all the copy on using AE’s text tool and a preset. animate in by letter or one similar to that. Then tweaked it and used multiple instances as well…

let me muck this up one last time. I use Re Visions “Twixtor Pro” to ‘create the extra frames required for “true” interlacing output vs frame blending which tends to soften an image or the alternative of just
placing the same frame in both fields which, visually, does not add anything too the look.

    my 2 cents

  • when rendering you can twirl down the render info box to reveal time and size estimates. They are imperfect but at least its something. Also, when you render you can have multiple output modules PER render. You can stagger your compression and output, say, 4 different movies with multiple compression settings from high to low. The render hit is minimal. Its one of AE’s little gems, as far as a feature go’s.

I also like using quicktime pro for compression as well… or you can spend big bucks and get one of the dedicated compression apps…

    good luck

It sounds like this is present from the original shooting. Its a tough one to deal with without seeing in person. Re vision has a plugin set called “smooth kit” and “noise” that may or may not help you on this.

way to broad of a question Pedro. Poser is the most affordable and ‘easy’ software for 3d people, and you can import imagery\models of furniture into poser. You can also export poser images into 3d apps. All this (to me) is pretty complicated to do. Poser is most likely the cheapest and best place to start…

you can also see if your allowed to ‘beef’ up the thickness of the stroke itself on the logo. The plug in, among many that helps this, is the ‘reduce interlace flicker’ plug.
