That shoots in 1080i I believe. I have the same camera, and it converts well to DVD. If you are looking for a more “cinema” look, do 24, if not use PF30 or 60i…..I shoot at the highest MBPS and it looks great. I also use the one preset that allows you to set the shutter speed (60), set the AGC to manual and zero, and let the auto iris take care of the exposure, and have had good results.

I am sending it component HD 1080i, and analog audio. It captured fine on my workstation but that is a hexacore. I am just confused how a “hardware” encoder drops frames because of a computer being too slow. I understand if it were an old single core that can barely handle usb2….but a dual core. 2.2hz that meets ram and os requirements ?Thanks for any input!

I am not a FCP user, but am amazed at how many FCP users think that their software does something that other do not. I have used Sony Vegas for 6 versions and although it has it’s hiccups (as any software does), it supports SO many hardware devices, file formats and edits extremely well. Some Apple proponents seem to think a PC or other editing software are “incapable” of doing what there machine or FCP do. This is just not the case, Vegas, Premiere, and others do a darn good job, and even though they do not operate the same as FCP (every software has it’s own naming system and ways of doing things), they can give you the same “results” that FCP can. That being said, FCP has it’s good points and Apple did you all a great disservice by removing many of the things (such as hardware support and numerous other things) from X. The sad thing is, if you need hardware support you have to go somewhere else. Premiere is a good place to look if you have to stay only on the Mac OS, if you are willing to bootcamp it and use Vegas, I can say you should be happy. In my mind, all NLE’s can get the job done, if a client want’s you to use a certain tool to make their movie, that is like asking a carpenter to use a certain hammer to build your house (in my opinion). The only issues there may be is working with FCP file types, but there are ways to remedy that. Well this is just my 2 cents, I hope I was not condescending, that was not my intention, just that there are more than just ONE NLE that can get a job done….thanks for listening to my rant…and good luck!!

I have had similar issues and have had to go to Microsoft Mapper for some audio issues to be resolved. Also, I have found that if I have glitchy video, sometimes I turn off the Auto adjustment for quality when using the 2nd monitor and it is less glitchy (as long as my quality is close to what it would choose on it’s own.) I am using a Presonus Firestudio and the latest drivers seems better, also, I have issues with Waves plug-ins as well….let me know how you make out!

Sorry, I was posting, when you posted the second time, didn’t see the pci-e slot comment. Try removing everything that is not needed from the computer (wifi card, extra usb attachment, etc) and if you have more than 2 strips of memory cut that down to 2 strips. See if that makes a difference. Go as bareboned as possible and see if you can trouble shoot what it may be. I have to re-arrange my video card and my Intensity several different ways to get mine to work well. I am now running my video card in my second 16x slot and the blackmagic one up from that in a 1x and it is working fine…good luck and hope this may help!

Have u tried different Pci-e slots? Give us an idea of the issue you are having, won’t recognize it, no video input…etc?
