I was looking at different options, from the one you mentioned, to using one of my digital mixers with aes/ebu. However having some of the other options for output on the ATEM 1 (such as a constant live composite output, to use to a DVD/DV recorder as a backup, analog A/V in/out, etc) are appealing. I have read at length on this forum as well as others to get the “real” answers on the nuts and bolts of these two items. You had a great post on the ATEM 1 a couple months backs, but gleaning info off of BM’s website on the real facts of either one, is difficult, hence my post with detailed questions. I am considering on upgrading to the ATEM 1, and need to consider the cost vs other converters that I would need. Thanks for your input on options.

All I can say is you are an ass, and stop replying in a rude manner to honest questions. You are obviously a jaded old pro. I was asking if the proprietary cable’s the ATEM 1 uses for audio, and looking at 5 sights as well as the BM website I found no answer if these were included. NO SHIT the normal cables are not included.
In regards to BM, they advertise items one way, only for you to find out afterwards something is not operational or included. NOWHERE on their site is there any mentioned that the audio is removed and not available from the HDMI or HD/SDI inputs. I understand that some things are going to be needed and not everything is plug and play. I was asking some questions to see if it is better to get the converters OR upgrade for my needs. You are obviously no help and only wish to beret people whom you deem underlings…..stay off the forums is you cannot e helpful in a positive manner.

Choose save as, and there will be a little check box on the lower right hand side that says “copy media with project”…this will save all your media files as well.

There is a way you can “save as” and have all the project files and asset files be saved to a folder you choose. Also, be sure you re-install all the plugins you may have, as well as save and custom preset for any FX you may have made. I have more than on one occasion redone a computer with custom presets only to realize that I do not have them when I reformat the computer.

The camera gives you the option of “dual slot” record. This allows you to capture to 2 SD cards at the same time for redundancy. It will handle ANY type of SD card as well, even the new ones that will go over a TB….

I used have a lot of Sony cams, but just bought a Canon Vixia HF G10….and it is AWESOME!!! Incredible in low light, love the colors and is AVDHD (which gets me out of tapes). It is the same sensor and lens on there 100 and 105 series pro cams. There is a pro version of this identical cam with XLR and such (however, I use off board audio, so I always save $ on going prosumer for the audio). New sensors are incredible these days, and this camera looks as good as the Z1/FX1 and love them. Going to about $1300-1500. After using many other cams, this one is my fav at this point…..

I would question a DSLR at this point unless you are shooting only short clips. They are limited to how long they can record and have had sensor overheating issues too. I looked into them about 5 months ago and went with a Canon HF G10 and love it! With that in mind, Vegas still is not the best with any AVCHD, and slows down a bit as well as crashes. You can deal with this by getting Cineform and converting to a better editing format. Good luck with what ever you do!

Yeah….I have had a ton of issues with mine as well and really am disappointed in BM products at this point. Problems with this, the H.264 Pro is just junk, and they never release things on time….looking for other options at this point….good luck!

The G10 uses a new sensor that is AWESOME in low light!! I do almost all plays/concerts/shows…just did two this week (6 cams, total of 18 tracks in vegas!), and the camera looks incredible! Be sure to white balance at the brightest the lights will be and it should turn out well. I have had awesome results doing this, I worry more about shutter speed, white balance and exposure that fps for lighting…good luck!
