You don’t wanna convert it to Apple TV in the first place, that is a highly compressed codec, not an editing codec.
Try a ProRes codec and on the Geometry Tab of the Inspector, make sure you have your frame size and pixel ratio set right.Greetings,

1. Dito. AE is not an editing app and hopefully never will be – for it would lose it’s strength as compositing app by that. You can see you wave form in FCP. I have been editing more than 20 music video with it – worked without any problem. Since I am very anal about syncing sound FX exactly on the beat – I’d name that the only downside of FCP: In apps like Sony Vegas you can move the in ms in the timeline, while the smallest unit in FCP is 1 frame which is 1/25sec – in PAL land. Which is not an issue most of the time, but there where moments, when I disliked that a lot.
2. Not needed for it’s no NLE. But you can press 0 on your number pad and have an audio preview played
3. I am still rocking fine on FCP 7. I do not use FCP X, but from what I see and heard, it looks like a good tool for Music Videos – at least since they fixed some of the major short comings of the first version. If you work with AE, I would rather consider switching to PPro since the integrated workflow with PS and AE is brilliant. And by now, PPro is a rock solid platform. You can play any media, un-rendered, straight away in the TL, no more transcoding needed. In terms of media management it is still a lot poorer than AVID, I think. But if you do mainly music video and are a one man band – doing offline and online in one person, I would definitely go for the PPro, AE and PS package.

Clipwrap is the only software – at least that I own, that unwraps and transcodes AVCHD files, which are .MTS files – they are not recognized by compressor, neither by Grinder.
So, Clipwrap is the only option, and it does a very reliable job actually. I analysed the files also in AE and they are uncorrupted and ok.Sascha Engel

Well, one Q I anyway have on top of the other ones – since I am not often Tools often: When I open The App, it asks me to create a new data base or open an existing. I know, chose create a new database, simply to the default location it offers.
So, then I do Batch conform, it renders for 2 sec. Then it created a conform.log file, a conformed 25.0 Folder (which is empty) and a “skipped” Folder where all the clips are in, still playing back at normal speed at 50fps.

That’s the way I did it.
But it put all the clips in the “skipped” folder, saying there was an error.

Hi Ernesto,
just to clarify: I only edited this clip, did off & online for it. The singer is a commercial rapper – not my style of lyrics or music. As a true Hip Hop Fan I despise this kind of music. It was only work and doesn’t represent good Israeli music culture in any way.
And there is a lot of good stuff out there. Check this clip, but make sure, you glue down your furniture first – it’s so groovy, stuff will start moving 😉

But basically, same principle: The stuff you see in the TV is scaled down, the living room is real size.
When I did the zooming in, I added motion blur to sell the shot.
I also added some Gaussian Blur on the TV image so it fits the out of focus of the rest of the things in the same distance.Greetings,
