That is also what I understood at first.
So, I filled out twice the form on heir website to receive the link to download the Lite version for 10.6.x.
They said in the form, that they will send me a download link, but it never happened.
I did fill the form out already twice with two different mail addresses…nothing.
If you have any idea how I could get the Lite version for 10.6.8 that would be amazing!!!Thanx.

Difficult to answer like that: What processor sits in the MacPro? Can you pump the RAM of the MAcPro…in that case, I’d definitely favor the MacPro (unless you only use FCP, then extra horse power in the RAM would not matter).
Depends really for what kind of work you need it for. What’s more important, mobility or the need to change and upgrade (RAM, Video Cards, monitors and so on).Greetz.

I did some test comparing Streamclip, Grinder and compressor.
Grinder and Streamclip weren’t acceptable, way to much saturation and gamma shift.
Destroying all the neat flatness, that my techniColor profile produced.
Compressor seemed ok, but I heard of a cropping issue. Besides its just really important for me, that you do not see a difference with the ingested footage that I did already over the L&T tool of FCP.Greetz.

I have to do that all the time. Here is my quickest good Q way, if you need the time code printed on:
I first export the hi res version of my time line, so I have a version without TC if needed, open that in new Seq, ad TC, export again in HD with TC, then open this file in Compressor and adjust the settings for an H.264 output, as Raphael said, make sure you set it to fast and not multi-pass, it will boost the time incredible and the quality difference is minimal.Greetz.

All the ready of the box pre sets look a bit cheap, specially the once for FCP.
Try a combination of different elements, such as desaturated (if wanted B&W), put a film effect with scratches & splotches & hair, and a filter that skips frames (for example go down to 12 fps in a 25p timeline).
Nattress, red giant and Boris have good elements, which gives me the right ingredients.Greetz.

Long time ago, I had something similar. Try first Shane’s suggestion. If it does not work, then download “Applejack” (free software). Close your machine. Restart, while holding down Command + S and then you get under the hood of the OS. Then type “applejack auto reboot” and wait 2-15 min, depending on how extensive the repairs are, that have to be done.

Just did a little test myself.
I have a card, where I cannot use the Log & Transfer tool, since the Card was damaged and had to be recovered.
So, I tried MPEG Streamclip, Grinder & Compressor.
Here is my results:Grinder’s Luma and Gamma shift is unacceptable – too dark, too saturated.
MPEG Streamclip is surprisingly good for a free application. Slight shifts, but incredibly fast.
Compressor, looks very similar to Streamclip.
I did not experience the cropping though. The compressor showed the same frame, than MPEG, Grinder or the original file.
I still wanna go for 5DtoRGB, since I heard it is the best by far.Sascha Engel

Maybe, there is something about your FCP studio that is wrong. Did you ever try to bring the HD to a friend, who runs FCP as well? If not, try once if his/hers recognize the folders.
