One possibility could be, that when you rendered it, it limits the whites to 100%. Try once to go into the Timeline Preferences (Apple + ‘0’) and set the Render Settings to “SuperWhite”. Does that change the results?

Yes, Shane is right – Software-wise you will find a lot of third party plug-ins, like Nattress, Magic Bullet, which will ad grain, and do some CC, which will let it look more like 16mm.
But the main thing for film look is the lens, so either one of the DSLR cameras, or if you use the EX1 and you have still budget – get a lens adapter and a good film lens with it.
If there’s no budget for that, try to milk the depth of field of the onboard lens of the EX1, meaning, get away as far as possbile from your subject, Zoom In – so you get the Max of Depth of field.
In the worst case, you can ad Depth of field in the post in AE – check here the terrific tutorials of Andrew Kramer on https://www.videocopilot.net.

    Very good one!!!
I have to remember this for the future!!!!
    Thanx.

  • Let me know if it worked – if there’s a problem – happy to assist.

  • I agree with Dave – your DoP should get his math right. Well, what you might be able to do:
You shot 50fps – when you play back at 25fps the speed is half – you did 120%music speed – half is 60% – which means, you have to Speed up your clip on the timeline again that much, that it goes from this 60% to a 100%. It means, that you will lose most of the slo-mo effect, but at least you can use the footage for the video and be able to lip sync then.

    Good Luck!

    Greetz,

  • Well, first of all I think, you are missing some plug ins for your QT Player to be able to play the H.264 – you get download those from the web.
Secondly, if you have FCP, you might also have Compressor, I do recommend to encode the files with compressor – it is much better quality.
Maybe you can tell me your system spec – computer and what software you have on it.
Another option is the application “MPEG Streamclip” to convert – you can download that one as well for free from the web.

    Greetings,

    Sascha

  • Yes, this software, will give you the option to make in “Disk Utility” a NTFS Partition System on your PC – that is the new format version for PCs – it allows files bigger than 4 GB – and it’s readable by PC and MAC.
It’s a little jewel that App!!!!!!

Me like it a lot 🙂

  • Yup, Kris is right.
In case you need to format the USB Stick still into a partition type that is compatible with PC, you have to download following free application – with this you can create on your MAC NTFS partition for PC, and it can be bigger than 4GB!!!!!:
