  • motion blur must be active in both the layer and the timeline. press both buttons. if that fails add ccforce motion blur.

search for unmult plugin. I cant remember where it is but it’s a free download then put your lens flare on a 100% black layer and add unmult.

for quick 3d text without bevils I use shatter and ae’s camera. you turn gravity down, set force 1 diameter or radius to 0 to things do not break up, use the text layer for the custom shape and set extrusion and faces to whatever values you like. Works great and is quick for simple stuff

managed to do kind of a splash with particular and mr mercury. it’s still not good.

I think i’ll explore shooting some live footage. I have an actor that drops a glass of water on a table. We’ve covered the table with water, added ripples and reflections, but my splash is still ugly. any suggestions fot shooting a splash that I can key out?

you’ll have to separate the girl from the background then use something like ccsphere on the text layer and use one copy for the front and one copy for the back. The hardest part will be separating the girl

  • Ron is wrong… it’s molasses but i forgot to mention that the jar had been stored on dry ice . . .

  • I tried photoshop on a macbook pro at the apple store and it was like I was stuck in molasses. On the other hand, other mac apps just flew. I think we are going to have to wait

you can also use the text tool in 6.5 and 7 and just draw a mask path directly on the text layer. Then in the time line you’ll find path options. pick the mask and then for fun try one of the text animate in pre-sets. I just did this using spin in by letter and it was amazing.
