problem with motion blur, Text and ‘shutter angle’.

Did you switch on motion blur for the PSD layer and for the comp?

I’ve eliminated the ‘psd’, and just created a layer with a solid bar, 128 pixes wide, and moves across a 720 pixel wide band in 5 seconds, which gives about 144 pixels of movment per frame.

I definately don’t see any indication of ‘blur’ with this set up, with motion blur option selected and varying the shutter angle between, 60-720.

As a note, I don’t know what 720 ‘really’ does as the basic frame rate is 24 fps. Does this mean that ‘motion blur’ should be spread across 2 frames?

Also as a note, when I use a ‘filter’ option such as the time echo, I see the effect of the echo rendered in the composite window. I don’t see this ‘blur’ option.

Basically I would like to use this option to ‘smooth’ the movement of sharply defined objects, such as text, to give it a more ‘natural’ look, relative to ‘real movie’ camera effects or artifacts.

motion blur must be active in both the layer and the timeline. press both buttons. if that fails add ccforce motion blur.

Ok, A ‘careful’ reading of the help page indicates that in order to see the effect in the composition window, one needs to enable the motion blur icon in the top part of the timeline window…

Since I didn’t see the effect in the preivew window, I didn’t render to check to see if the ultimately rendered output had the effect, or not… (I thought I had done that at one point… but in the heat of battle…)
