AE 7 performance comparison: PowerBook G4 vs MacBook Pro?
Greetings everyone. I found this earlier post about people’s initial thoughts on how well AE 7 will perform in Rosetta on a MacBook Pro:

But I’m wondering if anyone has actually tried it, and if they could compare the experience vs. a PowerBook. I currently have the latest model PowerBook G4, it’s a 1.67 GHz machine with 1.5 GB RAM. I’m sure it’s obvious that moving from something like a Quad G5 to a MacBook Pro and trying to run AE 7 might be grueling, but I’m interested to see if the performance is at least comparable between the PowerBook and MacBook Pro.

I tried photoshop on a macbook pro at the apple store and it was like I was stuck in molasses. On the other hand, other mac apps just flew. I think we are going to have to wait

To clarify: NO.
In the other response, Sam describes his experience as being “slow as molasses in winter.”
Sam was wrong…
It is actually as slow as honey in the dead of a Canadian winter.
Will this version of After Effects ever work on the MacBook Pro?
In a word: NO.
Buy a MacBook Pro for the right reasons and be happy, not the wrong ones and end up bummed.
