When you export from mocha it sounds like you are choosing the corner pin option and not the transform option.

Export transform, then paste to AE layer. Make sure to delete the anchor point keyframes.

    Hi Dane,
If the clean frames exist within the shot, there is a good chance that mocha Pro could help. If the area you want to remove goes over very specific moving details it could make it a lot trickier.

If you’d like to post the footage our team can usually tell very quickly if mocha Pro will help or not.

If you have AE CS5, you can paste the mocha shape directly into the mask channel by selecting the layer and under edit menu “paste mocha mask”.

OR mocha shape plug-in allows the mocha shape data to be imported with edge feathering.

If you don’t have CS5, the shape plug-in and mocha for AE v2 are available direct from Imagineer.

mocha’s planar tracker responds better to patterns than minimal textures such as a hi-con grid. If you filled your image with a texture it will track better.

To get a flawless screen replacement in mocha, usually all you need to do is track the edges of the monitor and subtract the insert. See this tut for reference:

Sounds like you could use mocha for After Effects v2 and the mocha shape plug-in.

Track the tree in mocha and use that track to link a tight roto mask for the tree. Export this from mocha to to AE into the mocha shape plug-in and paste onto the layer. This will cut a matte to composite on top of the actor.

Note that the mocha project and the AE project must match in frame size, fps and pixel aspect. That sounds like the start of your issues.

There are many tutorials for mocha online on the Imagineer web site.

June 29, 2009 at 6:44 pm in reply to: matte or keying/plugin tips?

mocha for Final Cut v2 now supports mask shape export to Final Cut using the mocha shape for Final Cut FxPlug.

The concept is you can accurately track your mask shapes and then tweak keyframes for finessing. Export the data as XML and import into FCP to render.

May 13, 2009 at 4:30 pm in reply to: Problem – Bouncing corner pin effect

    Just 2 quick notes:
mocha for AE v2 supports both CS3 and CS4.

Also – Red Giant warp does a nice job of high quality corner pinning.

August 7, 2008 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Rotor with motor

Late on this one – but yes, you can render out rotoscoping from motor.
You can select the RGB and matte togther for RGBA or simply the matte to get a hi-con out. Renders QT or image sequences….

For more motor help, I’d recommend asking in the Imagineer forum next time. https://forums.creativecow.net/forum/imagineer
