Problem – Bouncing corner pin effect
Hi there
I have a job on where I need to track a panel of graphics onto a shot of a booth that moves from the far back to close up & out of shot, in a 3 second, free camera move. After tracking an area of the booth & applying the tall , rectangular graphic layout, the graphics ‘bounce’ up & down from each shot even though the corners are correct.
There is a tracking grid that has been placed on the side of the booth (on a flat area) & I have individually tracked each corner of it through the shot (& used my imagination as the corners move out of view at the end) and applied each corner track to a null. – It all looks dead on here.
I then applied CC power pin to my graphics layer & linked each corner to the corresponding null position. Problem is the contents of the rectangular graphic bounce up and down drastically from each frame, even though my corner points are prtetty dead on, on this grid.
Its like the corner pin distortion effect is super sensitive & changes greatly if any of the corners are even a pixel out, creating an odd bouncing effect. This may be made worse with the fact that the shape of the grid is very tall & thin and coming from a great distance to extreme closeup – I suspect I would not see this issue if the panel was relatively square (as the computer screen is on many of the tracking examples on the net).
Does anyone have any advice or a know a better corner pin effect I could be doing. I’m looking at doing a 3d track as another option.
