    Hi Guys

Thanks for the info. I do have the Decklink card installed on the system and am working with 8bit Uncompressed QT files which have the .mov extention at the end of the file name.

I did get Framelink to work once or twice but no it doesn’t work at all.

I’m on Mac OS 10.4.3, latest QT, latest Decklink drives etc

    Thanks
    Rory

Thanks Nico, I’ll check out CinemaTools.

Do you know what the correct capture setting is for the 50fps footage?

I take it I will need to Capture via HDSDI as fireware @ 25fps doesn’t work (so I have read)

Please could someone let me know what the correct capture settings are for both

    25fps 25p
    50fps 50p

I guess once I have the 50fps footage in the system I can use Shake, CinemaTools or AE to slow it down to 25fps.

    Many thanks

    Hey Luke

Could you tell us which LCD’s support (more expensive) LCD monitors support more native frame rates?

    Many thanks

    Hey Olivier

How many drives and what capacity do you need to achieve 10bit HD 4.4.4 1080p Uncompressed and have it shared between to G5’s?

Tom are you doing HD shared with your Infortrend?
Which model did you go for?
Have you set up a SAN?

    Many thanks

    Hey Bob

By ‘Cheap’ I mean cost effective. Like Decklink is Uncompressed 10bit amazing quality but very cost effective.

Things don’t need to be expensive to be any good 🙂

Infortrend do a 4Gb RAID, Apple’s Xserve is only 2Gb. I’m just seem a better future path with the Build Your Own Raid option without being tied into a maxed out capacity.

    Thanks Bob

    This information is really useful.

I’m looking at getting the Infortrend box and with a Qlocic Switch and Apples Fibre Channel cards which will hopefully work with XSAN.

I’m still researching it all and can’t work out what the benefit for a Dual Controller is as Infortrend make to models, one has a Single Controler and the other has Dual Redundant.

    EonStor A16F-G2422 – Single
    EonStor A16F-R2422 – Dual Redundant

They also seem to come with a small build in Fibre Switch, which would be cool if I can use it with XSAN and avoid purchasing a seperate SWITCH.

Do you know a good source of info where I could learn about the difference between Redundant and Single.

    The cost difference is around

  • Thanks Sean

    I have the orginal media…..

I’m re-capturing now and hopefully it will work else I’m in it deep.

It came up with breaks in TimeCode on the last go so I’m hoping this one will work.

This is a major problem in that this is a serious part of FCP that needs to work.

Do you know what version of FCP it does work in?

Do I need to go back to version 5.0?

    Thanks
    Rory

As present there are no cards that support port multiplication, so you are still limited to one drive per port.

August 10, 2005 at 4:28 pm in reply to: snow on SDI monitor out – Decklink HD

    Hey Norman

I’m using a SD SDI monitor. The snow appears over the footage while being captured. If I open the Capture window in FCP and then close it, repeat this a few times it eventually doesn’t have Snow.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

do you really think A) Apple read these post? & B) cares?

I think Apple is way to busy counting its earnings from iPod and other consumer based products that. Pro users don’t really have much of a voice with Apple these days. They want to be the new Sony 🙂
