Highpoint or Promise?
Which one did you try with 8 Sata drives for HD editing and at what speed?
Promise Fastrak SX8300 or Highpoint RocketRaid 1820A -

The Sonnet Tempo X eSATA 8 port card is fantastic. It’s an 8 port card with all external SATA connectors. You will find this to be a better product than the Highpoint. I have never tried the Promise.

But it seems it only does RAID 0 and 1
Actually i’ll be usin Raid 0 anyway -
rr1820a works with raid5, thats fine.
the new rocketraid 2220 is now also with apple-driver available.
this controller works with the new standard sata2. -
As present there are no cards that support port multiplication, so you are still limited to one drive per port.
