I’ve used the 930 without problems. Might want to double check your settings and genlock.

December 10, 2005 at 12:12 am in reply to: Wishlist: QuickTime Interceptor for Kona CardsThis was a nice feature with the Cinewave…of course it only worked when viewing Targa clips.
But I 2nd and 3rd this feature request.Ron

I can’t answer your whole question…but with the KonaLH, Logic7 runs great.
I can take an XML or OMF from FCP and do my mixing with Logic…including video preview on my monitors or NTSC monitor via Kona.
I use the Mackie Control surface with FCP and Logic. No problems…very responsive…little to no setup in either program. Obviously you get more functionality out of the Mackie once you fire up Logic. Audio is clean out of the Kona.So I’m sure you can output a surround mix as long as the 1200A accepts all of the channels. Better answered by someone who has it.
As you probably know already you can setup your surround outputs in the Logic preferences.Ron

I’ve seen this issue with the KonaLH during analog (y/c) capture. Like you, It worked in the past, but now all of a sudden green garbage on the screen during capture. Capture is fine, normal editing operation is fine. Maybe something in the last update?
Haven’t seen the issue with SDI capture.
I run sync to all my equipment…new cables… KonaLH with IO…Configured LH for Y/C, so IO was not in the loop.

November 29, 2005 at 3:57 am in reply to: From Cinewave To Kona 2..Pl Suggest Best Configuration???If you are looking to work in HD in the FUTURE but are doing SD now, consider two things:
1) KonaLH will allow you to bring in SD as well as HD…almost mirrors a Cinewave setup without the extra BOB.
I’ve always looked at the Kona2 as a “hardcore” HD solution with some SD perks. If you don’t do HD now, you might consider the LH card.
2) if you go with the Kona2, you will need an IO box to get analog into your system.
Otherwise, you’ll be very happy with the Kona…whatever you get.
Good Luck

This is true, as a news man myself. But it has to be news worthy… like using “Karate Kid” because Pat Morita died– or Dukes of Hazzard because Nick and Jessica are separated. Its still a fine line and networks have to be careful. That’s why they all have great legal departments.
Hollywood will usually release movie segments during news worthy events like deaths. They put heavy restrictions and usage rights on stuff, that must be followed.

Check the FCP folders on the install DVD’s… I think I remember seeing a PAL folder with a bunch of goodies….color bars, countdowns, etc…

Yeah… tough question for a forum like this…although I understand exactly what you’re getting at. For 14 year olds, I would suggest they watch the whole thing…naughty bits and all. There really isn’t anything naughty about Amistad to tell you the truth. Spielberg did a nice job telling a powerful story about the slave trade… (obviously more to the story). You would do the kids an injustice by editing its contents. Powerful story, Great acting… and if naked slaves in the bottom of a ship is naughty, well, this is the reality of American history.

Thanks… this gig will more than pay for the software. I’ll download it tonight. As much as I like Magic Bullet, Editors to Suite would be an unjustifiable cost right now.

[Walter Biscardi] “Yeah, CNN is getting ready to make a jump to HD in the fairly near future and they’re even talking about 5.1 surround too. THAT will really make the wars fun, eh?”
Cool…Soledad all around me!!!!! and Fredricka in High Def!!! Bring it on CNN! 🙂
