Remove the CineWave card and all drivers. Deposit in the nearest trash bin.
Install Kona 2 with K-Box. Download all latest drivers from the AJA website and install.
Begin editing.
The RTRX supports uncompressed HD as I’ve done tests with my old 1440 unit in the past, but I don’t think it will work with the single channel SCSI card, it needs to be dual channel. I run Fibre Channel now (FCR2X) and it’s amazing.
I switched from CineWave over a year ago and Kona 2 is a very easy transition. You just need to read up on how the Control Panel works as it can control video I/O independent of FCP. It’s also where you set up the hardware Up / Down convert.

November 29, 2005 at 3:57 amIf you are looking to work in HD in the FUTURE but are doing SD now, consider two things:
1) KonaLH will allow you to bring in SD as well as HD…almost mirrors a Cinewave setup without the extra BOB.
I’ve always looked at the Kona2 as a “hardcore” HD solution with some SD perks. If you don’t do HD now, you might consider the LH card.
2) if you go with the Kona2, you will need an IO box to get analog into your system.
Otherwise, you’ll be very happy with the Kona…whatever you get.
Good Luck

Yes, but at the time I tried it, I had all kinds of problems with their drivers. I ran my RTRX with the 3D with no problems at all. This was about 6 months ago or so, so I’m sure the drivers are better now.
Ron’s suggestion of the Kona LH is a good one to look at as well if you don’t need SD to HD Up-Convert or the 4:4:4 I/O.
