Kona 2 and Logic Pro 7

I can’t answer your whole question…but with the KonaLH, Logic7 runs great.
I can take an XML or OMF from FCP and do my mixing with Logic…including video preview on my monitors or NTSC monitor via Kona.
I use the Mackie Control surface with FCP and Logic. No problems…very responsive…little to no setup in either program. Obviously you get more functionality out of the Mackie once you fire up Logic. Audio is clean out of the Kona.

So I’m sure you can output a surround mix as long as the 1200A accepts all of the channels. Better answered by someone who has it.
As you probably know already you can setup your surround outputs in the Logic preferences.

Are you bringing the video clip into Logic as a QT file? Do you have to export it separately to work with in Logic?

I was planning on using machine control and viewing the video straight off the master on the 1200A. That is how I was working with Pro Tools. The timeline was locked to the time code on the master and everything moved together.

Yes, and Yes. There is a “import movie” command in one of the drop down menus. (Not in front of the computer right now, but I think its in the Windows menu).

You can set Logic’s timeline to SMPTE and sync the video to the timeline.
It works automatically, but you can set offsets if needed too.

Again, the video chase is pretty accurate when using a control surface like the Mackie.
