I know this will make some people shudder but here is my work flow. I use XDCAM Trasfer and copy the complete contents of the cards to two seperate drives and then just start FCP and go to work. I have never had a corrupt file and the extra work is not worth it. What about tape and all the problems we used to deal with when their was no back up for a bad tape with drop outs etc. That was much more likely than a corrupt file yet we all lived to work another day. I think everyone is too paranoid about loosing data. It is so rare it is not worth worring about. Just my opinion, I’m sure to hear the other side in the next post! LOL!

If you go with the Caldigit use their card. I have the VR and use the Caldigit card on my MacBook Pro with no problems. I have it set for RAID 1 and it has been a dream.

I have never seen that message before but it should not matter. I have burned a PAL disc after running the NTSC footage through Compressor and sent it to Romania and it worked just fine.

OK, here is what I use in Compressor 3.5 and it works great! First I choose the Youtube preset and set the following settings.
1. In the inspector click the encoder tab and set file format to Quicktime movie.
2. Under video settings set Compression Type to H.264, frame rate Current, Key frame every 30 frames, check frame reordering, Compressor Quality = high, Encoding best quality (multi pass), data rate to automatic.
3 Under Frame Controls tab set frame controls on, resize filter better, output fields to progressive, deinterlace to better, check mark in Adaptive Details.I have used this on many 1080 60i projects and it makes a 720p file that looks great on Youtube. Hope this helps.

Wow, if your bag is 4 in. wider I don’t think it would work. My bag barely fits when laid on its side. I definately agree that it MUST be carried on board though. No option!Apple Certified Master Pro FCS 2

You can choose the speed tool on the left side of the screen and drag the clip as you wish. What version of FC do you have? Version 7 has the most options.

He should not be seeing compression artifacts if it is raw footage. Did you compress it for him before you sent it?
