I disagree with the above. I have gotten jobs BECAUSE of my equipment list. They didn’t know me but based on about 30 applicants it was my equipment list that got me the job. If you have professional equipment, list it because some people still show up with small DV or HDV cameras that can’t do the job.

I would mention all you have listed plus the ability to overcrank and undercrank, shoot in 720 or 1080i, 30p, 24p and the portability and reliability of the -3. I used my EX-3 in Romania for two weeks shooting a concert series and was delighted with how fast it was to set up and get into action. Also the ability to genlock and use SDI connections.

I exported the timeline to Apple Prores 422 and then used that file for my Blu-ray. Is this not a good method? I was told at another forum that Prores is great for this.

How should I have done it? Thanks in advance.

I have mixed 1080/60i and 25p on the same timeline in FCP-6 and had no problems at all. It rendered just fine and burned to blu-ray without a glitch. The only thing I noticed was a slight jitter in the 25p footage due to the progressive format but that would happen regardless of NTSC or PAL.

I took Noah’s answer as a book pitch too. Maybe he needs to reformat his signature so it does not come across that way. My first question when I read it was “what does a book on the RED camera have to do with the question”. Not trying to be mean here, just trying to make sense of what was said.

I ALWAYS use the stabalizer, even on a tripod. That way I never forget to turn it back on again. I have shot all sorts of subjects including many concerts from a tripod and the stabalizer did not cause any problems at all.

I would turn on the histogram and forget the zebra. Try a few test shots and pay attention the the histogram to see what it reads when your best shots are taken.

Guys, there are several BIG differences between the EX-1 and EX-3. The viewfinder on the -3 is a HUGE advantage over the -1. I have shot with both and own an EX-3. It also is MUCH easier to hold steady handheld because it is shoulder mounted. The lens and multicam cabability are great too.

Also, there is no problem with using XDCAM Transfer to download your clips. It is fast and you can drag them straight to FCP with no render. FCP makes a compatable timeline automaticly. This is about as easy as it gets.
