i just opened your jpeg in illustrator, selected it’s layer, then select live trace/options, used default black/white settings and click trace. then convert the layer to live paint and use the paint bucket to add your original 3 colors. you’re right, it will scale to any size with no pixelization. i don’t know how to attach a file to these posts but i can send/post the illustrator file if you let me know where.

not sure what the problem is. i was able to take your jpeg and use the default illustrator black+white trace settings with the threshold at 128 and it made a perfectly clean and accurate trace to which i then added your original colors. worked fine, no edge trouble at all. in fact a traced object will not show “blurring” of edges. even if it’s edge detection is a bit off, trace will always show a clean vector edge.

yeah, that works fine. thanks very much. curious that the cloner/spline effector offset apparently doesn’t animate inside another cloner.

probably other opinions on this but i prefer to work/render in C4d at 864×486 or 853×480 with pixel aspect set to 1:1 for square pixels rather than working in C4d with anamorphic pixel settings. if going to widescreen dvd i use the 853×480, some editors want the 486 vertical size. the anamorphic resize can be easily done when the c4d movie is imported into your edit or compositing application.

FYI, i just did your test using afx to render the comp using h264 and i get the same white frames at the end as described.

hmm, interesting. i’m getting the same end white frames when using the adobe media encoder from premier pro CS3. i’m trying to export from animation codec files on the timeline, same frame rate, same size export to h264. i ended up taking each exported h264 movie into quicktime pro and cutting the white frames at the end and resaving. when i export to h264 with the same animation files using qtime pro there is no white frames. haven’t tried it yet from afx. btw, i’m on dual core intel mac 10.4.1 using qtime 7.4.1.
