i have a mograph cloner object with a cube as the object. i’m animating offset with a spline effector to dupe the cubes and move them along a linear spline. simple enough and it animates fine. i need 12 of this simple setup and thought i could just drop that cloner in another cloner to get the twelve copies of cubes moving along the 12 splines, but when i do that the spline effector offset doesn’t work, no animation. i get the 12 clones of the cubes on the spline but nothing animates. i tried putting the first cube cloner/spline/effector in a null and then into the second cloner but that didn’t seem to help. i think this is my limitation and not mograph’s. can anyone tell me what i’m doing wrong or if i should approach this in a different way.

it works if you animate the offset inside the original cloner instead of using an effector. Check this out. I’d have to know more if that’s not what you meant (more or less).

yeah, that works fine. thanks very much. curious that the cloner/spline effector offset apparently doesn’t animate inside another cloner.

I think it’s because the purpose of the Spline Effector is to move clones to a spline – make a mass of clones move to a font spline for logos for example. Offsets and such are just extras. That behavior (moving to the spline) overrides all when it’s used. If you clone the Spline Effected cloner and play with settings and alignment you will see that new clones do get generated but they all end up on the spline because that is what the Effector does.

    Hi,

I’m trying out Mograph in the demo to see if I will use it in an upcoming project.
Using R10,5, animating using the spline effector worked instantly.
    Maybe I misunderstood the problem?

    Kind regards, Robert

the problem arose when putting a cloner/spline effector inside another cloner. brian’s solution worked fine.
