I use the Sony AVC/MVC template and then go to “custom” where I set the bit rate to 4,000,000. That works pretty good for me.

Depending how close your timestamp is to the bottom I suppose you could also crop the entire image somewhat with the “event pan crop”. Or another way would be to make a widescreen look out of it after you do a little pan-crop and out a black bar at the top and bottom to give it a panorama look.

Hi John, It’s always a personal preference. Those of us who use PC’s are outnumbered by those doing video with the mac. Most professional houses use the mac I think.
Vegas is great in my opinion and I love it however Vegas 11 is not nearly as stable as Vegas10 and I think a lot of Vegas users have found Vegas11 to be very troublesome and buggy. I certainly have.Roger Bansemer

I purchased Vegas11 when it first came out and had trouble with it so went back to 10. Tried 11 the other day on a small project and it was a nightmare in just about every aspect. Some people are having good luck with it but I can’t recommend it.

Just grab the edge of the event (some people call it a clip) and drag it to the right or left to extend it. You can do that to each one to the desired length.
By default Vegas puts your still images on the timeline at 5 seconds. You can change that to whatever length you want by going to “Preferences” and then to the “editing” tab. There you will find a box that says, “New still image length” where you can tell Vegas to put your still images on the timeline for whatever length you desire.
There is also a plug in that is available called “Still Motion” and costs less than $10 which will do all sort of things to organize your stills. You can find out more about that at:

There is also a plugin called “PluralEyes” that will sync up multiple tracks perfectly.

I thought of the sub clip thing too but when I’ve created a sub clip in the past, and if for some reason the clip is cut, it can’t be found again in the explorer as it really isn’t a file on it’s own.
Another solution would be to highlight the area you want to loop, do a Ctrl-M and render to a new track. That way you’ll have an actual file which will loop.

Your original video footage of 10 seconds will always remain as 10 seconds as Vegas does not destroy or change the original video.
What you need to do is reduce that 10 second portion you want on the timeline and then copy and paste it next to the shortened clip.
The other way would be to render the shortened video and then insert that rendered video on the timeline. Then it would repeat.Roger Bansemer

All those sound great.
Will audit assistant find 1 frame black flashes and can it recognize those pesky one frame bleed overs from an event that Vegas keeps when it captures video?
Also can Caption Marker put a marker on the timeline that simply will not move ever. It would be helpful to mark where the end of a project absolutely has to end. Right now I put an empty even on the timeline and lock it but a marker of some sort would be handy.

Is Neat Video more straight forward to use than the Boris plug-in?
Also is this something that can be used for old VHS videos?
