It actually turned out to be the FireWire port itself that was malfunctions.

I’ve also tried using HDVSplit as a capture device.
It begins to capture and then in about 4 seconds it gives me this message.
I’ve also reinstalled Vegas and installed DirecX. Any clues here that might help?

I tried using the Sony video capture. I get a message that my camera could not be opened. It says please make sure that it is turned on which it is and is not being used by other application.
The blue screen on the video capture window says that preview is turned off. I don’t know if that is a clue are not as to the problem. Could it be that Skype or my built-in laptop camera is taking over in someway. There’s a conflict somewhere and I just can’t figure it out.
When I turn off my video camera my laptop camera then takes over and I can see a preview In the Sony video capture.Roger Bansemer

I am using HD. All my settings are I like they always were. I get no preview video in Vegas but I can control the playback fast-forward and so on on my camera to Vegas. But whenever I click the record button it grays out And nothing gets captured. I don’t have Internet here so I can’t reinstall Vegas. Do you think a clean Vegas install might do the trick.

Not being familiar with After Effects, what is meant by directly manipulate OFX FX via handles on the Vegas preview window. Are there any tutorials or a page that lists the new features?
I purchased Vegas11 and never used it because of bugs I ran into so don’t want to jump into 12. Have you found it stable for someone now using a high end video card.

All you have to do is change the “properties” for your project and render it again. Your original footage never changes so you didn’t destroy anything.

If your “properties” are set to HDV 1080-60i (1440×1080, 29.970 fps)
and you drop your go pro footage in there it all should look fine.
The GoPro 720-60 will give you wide screen but the resolution is a bit less than your 1080 but I don’t think it’s that noticeable.
The 60 number on your go pro means you shooting at 60 frames per second. That is excellent if you want to stretch out your video to a slower motion. There’s another mode on your GoPro that shoots at 120 frames per second which is even better if you want to slow the motion down if for instance you have surfing shots, etc.I’m not an expert on this so wait for some other opinions.

After you’ve picked the solid color you want from the “media generators” tab just drag it down between your two events on that same timeline. That should do it. No need to cut and paste anything.
Or if you’re using a solid color generated from Photoshop just drag that file onto the timeline.
