One new feature you won’t find listed in the document that Steve pointed you to is that Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 now has the ability to run Command Extensions from select 3rd parties. VASST is the first company to offer these under the brand of FasstApps.
Vegas Pro users have had Command Extensions (which are similar to Scripts if you’ve heard of those) for quite some time and they understand how powerful and productive these scripts can be. Movie Studio users have not had this capability in the past and so this opens up a whole world of possibilities for extending Movie Studio like Vegas Pro users have.
Here is the list of FasstApps that is currently available (we are planning to make more):
EventTool – Apply easy automation of Adjustments, Selections, Transitions, and Fades on multiple events simultaneously.
TimeWarp – TimeWarp shifts time beyond 4x up to 10,000x in one click!
MarkerMaker – Easily create, remove, load & save markers and regions of every kind. Place markers at events, intervals, evenly space, etc.
MarkerEditor – Unleash the power of markers and enhance your editing experience. Split events at markers, convert markers to regions, goto markers instantly.
AuditAssistant – No more editing errors; AuditAssistant is the one-stop solution to final project checks. Find gaps in your timeline, or buried events, etc.
RenderAssistant – Make rendering work for you with RenderAssistant. Now you can bring the power of batch rendering to your projects.
StillMotion – StillMotion creates Slideshows in an instant! Allows you to continue to refine your slideshow once it’s on the timeline.
StutterFrame – Recreate Hollywood’s most popular effect and create jump frames in just one click. Perfect for adding a little mayhem to your production.
PropertyAssistant – Take control of your project’s event aspect ratio, along with any property on hundreds of events at the same time.
MediaTool – Set up media bins, find unused media, load from file system, remove SFK files, and more…
VoiceAssistant – Take advantage of single-click voice processing with VoiceAssistant for Movie Studio.
CinemaLooks1 thru 13 – Give your videos a Hollywood-style appearance and feel with CinemaLooks. There are 13 sets of looks to choose from.
The best thing is that they are only $9.95 USD each. This way you can buy just the functions you want/need. In the interest of “full disclosure”, I work at VASST and developed the FasstApps. 🙂

September 3, 2012 at 2:28 pmAll those sound great.
Will audit assistant find 1 frame black flashes and can it recognize those pesky one frame bleed overs from an event that Vegas keeps when it captures video?
Also can Caption Marker put a marker on the timeline that simply will not move ever. It would be helpful to mark where the end of a project absolutely has to end. Right now I put an empty even on the timeline and lock it but a marker of some sort would be handy.
