I’m saw the end of my project being rendered in a uncompressed .mov file in the preview window. Then the preview when black but it still has 20% to go on the render time. That last 20% moves at a snales pace at about 2% in the last hour and a half.
The really bad news is that I haven’t been able to get through it yet as it keeps crashing. I’ve tried 4 times now and all I end up with is an “error occurred” message.

Will AVI files do the same job as backing them up as M2t files?

Wow! That was great. That’s exactly what I was trying to learn plus you’ve given us more tweaks that are really helpful. This is a great tutorial.
    Thanks John.

Thanks for this tip John. This is one I didn’t know. However, I was looking for the effect where the text looked as if it were floating on the water and as a wave went by (or any object) the text would wrap over it as if the text were floating on top of the wave.
This is not a wave circle but rather the look of text floating on top of a wave (if water is what the video clip is)

  • That’s a great tip about Quantize. Never knew that one before.

It’s with the 32 bit version. I use other plug-ins that don’t support 64 bit and that’s always a problem that seems to get in the way.

There are no “blank media” events on my timeline and there doing a file search with explorer both in Vegas and windows, it finds nothing like what’s it’s looking for. Strange!

Got it. Thanks for taking the time to show me. It’s a really good trick to know. Nothing worse than working for a long time on a piece and having something like a credit roll ruin the entire video.
    Thanks very much.

ps. I thought maybe POS was some technical term but I got that figured out too.

It’s the Auto Ripple button. The icon looks like two small rectangles, one gray and one green with an arrow on top. It’s at the very top where most of the icons are.
It’s a really important feature of Vegas, and one I use more than anything else. It can be very helpful and if you’re not familiar with it, it can mess you up faster than anything else by sliding clips over each other you don’t want to slide.
Keep in mind that there are several settings for it as well. One moves all the tracks to the left and the other moves only a selected track. Play with it and you’ll figure it out.
