I tried this out but it’s really bringing up the quiet passages to the audio which defeats the purpose for me. I’d love to have something smooth out my audio when I for instance turn my head away from the mike. Any more thoughts on this?

I have a program that crashes every time when I try to open it if I continue to let Vegas build the peaks in the lower left hand corner. If I cancel the peak building I can work with it but without the benefit of being able to see the peaks.
I’ve run into problems because I’ve done a save as more than once to the same directory thinking that files would be overwritten. They are not. Vegas saves all the files and puts a 001 on them so I ended up with double files. This has caused problems I believe (but can’t be sure) with my being able to load the program.

Thanks. That clears it up about the levels.
Also, I just found the other part of the 110 cord in the box as a power adapter. I’m using the six pin.

The man who sold me the unit told me not to use the install CD and just get the new drivers which I did but no “onboard DSP mixer” was installed on my computer. Is this something I even need to worry about? It also came with a CD “Live lite”.

This is as my daughter says, “sweet”. Now I can finally fix some audio problems with my voice overs.

I’ve purchased the ProFire 610 and am trying it out for the first time.

1. In Vegas, if I right click on the levels meter it gives me choices:
-12 to 0 db all the way up to -90 to 0 db. By changing these I seem to be able to eliminate background noise. What should I be looking for here? Not familiar with this at all.

2. The ProFire 610 came with a 110V power cord but no place to even plug it in. What’s that all about?

Use the cookie cutter plug in.
Have your original track with the dark face footage.
Duplicate that track and put it above it.
Take your cookie cutter plugin and probably use the circle cookie cutter shape.
Move it to where the dark face is.
Soften the edges of the cookie cutter.
Then with the secondary color tool, lighten the clip. It will lighten the cookie cutter area.
Then make that new track a parent track of the dark face track below.
Then on your top track, (cookie cutter track) make that a “multiply mask”
Then you’ll have the face light in that area.

I was under the impression that “Regions” (R key) had to be used for that and not markers.

I’ve been told that it is not good to switch between brands of tapes because the coating is different and mixing any residual of that coating on the head of the camera may be bad. Don’t know if that’s just Sony trying to get brand loyalty but something to consider.

On the far left, the very bottom icon…
You can click it. It turns from arrows facing left and right, click it again and you’ll see arrows up and down, click again and you’ll see arrows doing in all four directions.
Change that.
All four arrows lets you move it any direction. The others only let you move it up and down or left and right.

When you open Vegas again after you have moved or renamed your video files, you’ll be prompted to either “search for files”, specify a new location, ignore that file, or ignore all files changes.

If you have just moved the files and not renamed them,simply do a search for files option. Then click on the file once Vegas has found it. If you have renamed them, then it becomes more difficult. It will ask for the file but you have to know the new name in order to have that file take it’s place.
