    hellow people,
i’m quite new with SV. because of reorganizing i changed (and re-named) my library in my pc, so the directorys of the folders i used for editing in SV have another path.
the main folder with the projecttitle and the sub-directorys (org_photos; org_music; edit_fotos; edit_music and more) i didn’t change.
now, when i start a project i get the message “media offline”. oke, i expected, but how can i give SV the adress of the new directory?
i tried with the window: “vegas pro 9.0 > what do y want to do? > specify … etc” (“recapture … ” is not activated)
    please help…
    with kindly regards, herman

When you open Vegas again after you have moved or renamed your video files, you’ll be prompted to either “search for files”, specify a new location, ignore that file, or ignore all files changes.

If you have just moved the files and not renamed them, simply do a search for files option. Then click on the file once Vegas has found it. If you have renamed them, then it becomes more difficult. It will ask for the file but you have to know the new name in order to have that file take it’s place.

    thanks roger,
a brief history: because of the overview for one project i created a general folder and in that folder i used subfolders for original pictures, -sounds, restmaterial and after changing the originals (pixelsize, colors, etc) i put them in seperated editing folders (images, sound). this pictures and sounds i used for editing the program.

my first attemt was to find the proper folder with SV explorer, no problem, but in the editing tracks i still saw “media off line”. i couldn’t activate the events.
i experiented a little bit with ‘your’ options but it also didn’t work out. i got a window with the used material, asking to open an event, i did (also when asking for “all events”). but i still got “media off line”. now i don’t know how to continue. probably i did something wrong. and maybe i experiented too much.
for all clearness: i didn’t change the name of the events (images and soundeffects) and the direct used folders. i “only” replaced the folders and created new ones above them.
i thought i only had to put in the new path to find all the events,
    but no.
i hope you or other people have an idea to solve this problem.
    kindly regards, herman

    a reply on myself.
i experienced a little bit with rogers solution.
i made a short program in SV (project folder and pictures and sound in seperated subfolders), saved it, changed and renamed directorys and by restarting used in the “vegas pro 9.0” window “search …” and “specify …” SV found (after a time) one item (a picture; clic open, clic oke) and by repeating the question an other (a sound; realy fast), and SV constructed my timeline with the program i made.
i found that in the “vegas pro 9.0” window a part (and that is confusing) of the path of the file is written.
so, i understand if SV found one he connects it with the other events (files).
tomorrow i try this method with my other (lost) programs.
goodnight and thanks for your help.

ps. other suggestions and explanations are still welcome.

    oke,
finally it worked out, i got my not-finnished editingprograms back. i used the combination of ” search…” and “specify…”. but it was not easy, SV repeated a lot time his question to find an event, although he found before the good map with one of the images. it works, but i don´t understand the system.
    kindly regards, herman
