  • You should most probably be using Rec709 2.4 gamma.

You should look at MetaSan and ADTX fibre channel storage. It’s quick, cheap and supports mac and pc.

    Hiya Nick,
DVCPro HD will run fine on standard SATA drives or Firewire 800 drives. However, be aware that the speed of the drives will limit the number of video layers available to you/your editor.
I would also suggest that if you are looking at HDCam work at some point in the future, you shouldn’t be looking at a gradually scalable system. Instead you should be looking at a Fibre channel RAID system which will adequately handle the future work load.

It appears that to get dual link support on the Sony HDCam SR Deck, you have to be running 4.4.4 sampled footage NOT 4.2.2!

Support for DVCProHD at 25fps would be useful, especially for us Brits and anyone trying to deliver to a PAL market!

What problems, if any are likely to arise from doing this?

    Hiya,
Okay, so this is probably a very stupid question but here goes; Can a clip digitised with a Blackmagic capture card be used / worked on a system with a Kona 2 card?

    Hi,
I’m running OSX 10.4.2 with FCP 5.0.2. and dual screen setup.
Do you advise a software update?

    Rex

“What version of the os are you running?

Ive run into this a while back on a number of machines that use 2 monitors, and this would only happen on one of the two (but usually the main window if i remember correctly).

I think this was corrected with certain system updates… “

I would suggest your problem is caused in one of two areas:
Either (and most likely) your Cinewave RT card or possibly your SCSI connection. First and formost, restart the system. Check all cables both SCSI and Cinewave. Also be sure the drivers and dashboard for Cinewave haven’t been blasted away from a previous crash and are up to date.
